Gordon Skinner has been a rising force in the local art scene for a while now, with shows at the Afro-American Cultural Center at Yale and an abstract style reminiscent of influences like Picasso and Basquiat. In a medium (abstract) that can be called controlled chaos at times, Gordon’s work takes bold, vibrant color and places loud statements of concealment, anger and freedom on top.
Gordon is also a frequent shopper at Raggs New Haven, dropping by often to view our collection and put together a style that he describes as “ecletic”. We caught up with Gordon at his recent exhibition at Erector Square in New Haven where he was outfitted with a recent Raggs purchase of a two piece suit from Sand and a Hugo Boss dress shirt underneath:
